BITZER exhibits world firsts at Mostra Convegno

• BITZER develops new multi-compressor technology for uneven ORBIT scroll compressor tandems and trios

Sindelfingen/Milan, 05.03.2014. From March 18 to 21, the specialist for refrigeration compressors BITZER will be presenting its latest innovations at Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2014 in Milan. One real trade fair highlight will be the patent-pending BITZER Advanced Header Technology (BAHT) for ORBIT scroll compressors, but the spotlight will also be on BITZER’s new screw compressors.

One major advantage of innovative BITZER Advanced Header Technology (BAHT) scroll compressor tandems and trios is their great flexibility when applied to the design of air conditioning and heat pump systems. The ORBIT compressor’s special features, for instance the design with the crankcase oil being isolated from the suction gas, ensure that it has exceptionally low oil carryover rates. Minor pressure differences in the suction manifold do not have any impact on the oil equalization between the compressors at low mass flow rates under partial load.

BITZER ORBIT: greater compressor design flexibility

BITZER Advanced Header Technology allows a single header package to be used for up to 20 different capacity combinations, which throws open a whole array of new options for air conditioning engineers when configuring future systems. The new technology even allows compressors of varying cooling capacity to be configured as uneven tandems with no active oil equalisation. According to BITZER, this represents a unique selling proposition which permits ORBIT 6 and 8 scroll compressors, for instance, to be combined in a single air conditioning system, thus cutting storage costs for OEMs and retailers.

A further advantage is that BITZER Advanced Header Technology does not require internal restrictor washers, which can be difficult for OEMs to manage on the production floor. The advantage of this is that the system integrates well into existing lean production systems.

ORBIT scroll compressors: high-efficiency compressors for air conditioning systems and heat pumps

ORBIT scroll compressors are characterized by high isentropic efficiency, low sound levels and excellent energy efficiency. The ORBIT 6 series features displacements of between 20 and 38 cubic meters per hour, while the larger ORBIT 8 series is capable of between 29 and 77 cubic meters. ORBIT scroll compressors are designed for use in air conditioning systems and heat pumps as well as for operation with the refrigerant R410A.

At Mostra Convegno, BITZER will be exhibiting its latest screw compressor developments for the first time.
