Sindelfingen/Nuremberg, 14.10.2014. Long-standing company BITZER SE will be showcasing the new CRII control system for ECOLINE reciprocating compressors at Chillventa 2014 between October 14 and 16. For a comprehensive explanation of the capacity control system, specialists and visitors can visit the BITZER stand (Hall 4, stands 310 and 408).

One of the BITZER highlights at Chillventa 2014 is the optimized CRII control system, now with blocked suction, which was designed for use with all ECOLINE reciprocating compressors and offers exceptional flexibility and superior reliability. The heart of the CRII system is the new hollow control piston, which facilitates a higher switching frequency. Depending on the operating conditions and refrigerant, a special control algorithm allows compressors to be nearly infinitely adjusted. With the CRII, BITZER has achieved an exceptionally wide range of control between 10 and 100% for two-, four- and six-cylinder compressors. Tandem compressors can even be operated with a part-load of just 5%.

Flexible control – optimum switching frequency
With control as flexible as this, compressors can be adjusted in line with the exact load requirements. The optimized switching frequency reduces fluctuations in controlled value, temperature and pressure and, in combination with the expanded range of control, ensures greater system efficiency. The CRII system is backward compatible and available for the ECOLINE series with a capacity range of two, four, six and eight cylinders. All ECOLINE compressors up to 6FE-50(Y) can be retrofitted, and this is also possible with the two external cylinder banks in the compressors 8GE-50(Y) to 8FE-70(Y). Compressors are also available with the CRII cylinder heads pre-mounted.

“The innovative CRII system allows our customers to individually and flexibly adjust the ECOLINE reciprocating compressors in line with the operating conditions,” says Albrecht Höpfer, Director Sales Germany and Switzerland at BITZER. “In this way, BITZER can increase system efficiency and reduce the strain on the environment as well as operating costs for customers.”

The range of compatible controllers is also flexible: international manufacturers offer modern system controllers for the innovative CRII system. Specialist in control systems CAREL introduced the pRack pR300 compounding system controller at the beginning of 2014, while the company ELREHA designed the MSR eco 3130 for use in compounding systems with the CRII system. The company Wurm has also been involved in BITZER’s CRII project from the outset and supports the CRII system with the standard main modules for compounding systems from its tried-and-tested Frigolink range.
