Pipe works
The explanations here apply to most screw compressors and most refrigerants. For OS.A compressors with R717 (ammonia):
- AT-640: Use of ammonia (R717) in Bitzer compressors
Screw compressors are very robust, reliable and comparatively insensitive to liquid slugging during operation. However, the compressors must not be flooded with oil or liquid refrigerant during standstill. This leads to uncontrollably high hydraulic pressures when starting and, in extreme cases, to damage to the bearings, the compressor and the oil solenoid valve. Discharge gas and suction gas lines should therefore lead downwards from the compressor first (except in R717 systems: To be noted for R717). To maintain the compressor's operational reliability and lifetime, it must also be protected against contamination.
What has to be minded with parallel compounding is described below (HS. and OS. parallel compounding).
