Retrofitting cylinder heads for capacity control
Capacity control can be retrofitted as a complete kit on the cylinder banks provided for this purpose. The capacity control kits, including part numbers and mounting instructions, are listed in the ePARTS Software for the respective compressor.
The installation of capacity control may necessitate additional cooling of the compressor! Observe the application limits (Application limits for part load operation)!
The standard cylinder head must be replaced with a cylinder head for capacity control. It can only be retrofitted as a complete kit.
WARNING
The compressor is under pressure!
Serious injuries are possible.
Depressurise the compressor!
Wear safety goggles!
- Remove the screws from the existing cylinder head.
- Remove the cylinder head and gasket. Check the sealing surface on the valve plate and clean if necessary.
- Fit new gasket and new cylinder head (for capacity control). Use new screws and tighten them crosswise.
For tightening torques see
- AW-100: Tightening torques for screwed connections
DANGER
Incorrect installation can cause the cylinder head to burst!
Before commissioning the converted compressor, carry out a strength pressure test / tightness test.
- Test pressure: 1.1 times the maximum allowable pressure (see name plate)
- Check compressor for refrigerant tightness
- Install the solenoid valves (Pre-mounted cylinder head: Mounting the solenoid valve)
