Intermediate pressure vessel
The intermediate pressure vessel is located between the condenser and the evaporator. The performance data of the system can be displayed in the Bitzer Software by setting the temperature difference Tcu – Tms to 0 K:
The following principle applies: for the calculation of the intermediate pressure vessel, the generally applicable basic thermodynamic rules at the relevant operating conditions must be taken into account. Another important feature is that the vessel acts here as phase separator.
Recommended vessel size for a system containing a single compressor:
- Minimum separation height above the liquid level: 400 mm
- Maximum internal gas flow velocity: approx. 0.3 m/s
In parallel operation containing several compressors and a single intermediate pressure vessel, the pipe diameter must be correspondingly larger.
Controller at the outlet of the intermediate pressure vessel
To check the decrease in the vessel pressure, to control the gas volume flow to the compressor and to keep the vessel exit closed during standstill periods and cooling processes, a valve with suction pressure regulator can be installed in the ECO suction gas line.
