Condensing units for supermarket chain: four stores equipped, more to follow

BITZER South Africa and RefTec Refrigeration have collaborated to install a state-of-the-art refrigeration system for SPAR Western Cape. So far, four stores have been equipped.

The new system installations included a comprehensive set-up of BITZER ECOSTAR condensing units, using R134a as refrigerant, and BITZER Digital Network (BDN) for remote system monitoring and management. The system meets the medium-temperature requirements for the stores' multizone display cabinet and their walk-in cold rooms. Driven by the need to significantly reduce energy consumption, the transition to the ECOSTAR condensing units combined with installing display cabinets with doors has resulted in a highly efficient refrigeration system that allows the display of more products while maintaining a lower refrigeration load. The ECOSTAR system features intelligent controls and a semi-hermetic compressor driven by VARISPEED technology, modulating between 25 and 87 Hz. This ensures stable suction and condensing pressure control, reducing consumption costs by approximately 25% compared to conventional pump-down systems and ensuring consistent and reliable refrigeration across all zones.

ECOSTAR units are designed for straightforward installation and minimal maintenance, making them ideal for food and beverage and retail applications.

The end customer, SPAR Western Cape, has expressed satisfaction with the project's progression and the system's performance.
