CO₂ booster system for a Chengdu supermarket

This supermarket is a chain of retail warehouse clubs that operate on a membership-only basis. At its location in Chengdu, an R744 (CO₂) booster system with parallel compression fulfils the customer’s energy saving targets for both cooling and heating. The system comprises twelve compressors for transcritical (models: 4× 4FTE, 6× 6DTE, 2× 6FTE) and five compressors for subcritical (models: 4× 4CSL, 1× 4PSL) CO₂ application.

Sustainable refrigerant and heat recovery

In total, 55 air coolers are configured for 16 cold storage rooms and six processing rooms, with a combined total of 109 air coolers and freezers. The system uses the natural refrigerant CO₂, with a power consumption comparable to that of R404A refrigeration systems. The waste heat from the refrigeration system is fully utilised for the anti-freezing and anti-condensation of cold storage floors, the defrosting of cold storage air coolers and the production of domestic hot water. This saves significant amounts of energy while meeting high technological and component requirements.
