Reliable refrigeration and air conditioning for marine applications
Reliable temperatures for crew, passengers, provisions and cargo
When ships spend long periods at sea, reliable systems are essential. Marine refrigeration and air conditioning are crucial for reliable operation at sea. On cruise ships, refrigeration and air conditioning systems provide comfortable conditions for passengers and crew as well as optimal temperatures for storing food and provisions. On container vessels, they maintain the cold chain for temperature-sensitive cargo over long transport routes.
Marine refrigeration and air conditioning systems must meet a wide range of requirements. Ships cross different climate zones, often spend weeks at sea and need systems that operate reliably even under demanding conditions.
Modern refrigeration and air conditioning systems help protect cargo, improve passenger comfort and support dependable operation at sea.
Reliable performance under demanding marine conditions
Marine applications place unique demands on refrigeration and air conditioning systems. To operate reliably and efficiently, components must perform under challenging conditions at sea.
Typical requirements on board:
- High angles of inclination in changing sea conditions and ship vibrations
- Temperature fluctuations when crossing different climate zones
- Long operating periods with limited access to service
- Requirements of international marine classification societies
- Increasing requirements for climate-friendly technologies
The right solution for every marine application
Refrigeration and air conditioning systems at sea need components that have been specifically developed for marine use. We at BITZER offer a broad portfolio like:
- Compressors
- Gas coolers
- Condensers
- Evaporators
- Primary oil separators
This allows key components to be optimally tailored to the specific application on board. Depending on the product and the specific request, BITZER offers approvals and certifications from a wide variety of marine classification societies.
