Hydrocarbon refrigerants such as propane (R290), propene (R1270) and isobutane (R600a) are natural, halogen-free, and offer very low global warming potential. Their excellent thermodynamic properties make them suitable for a wide range of refrigeration and heat pump applications.

BITZER reciprocating compressors for hydrocarbons are designed for safe and efficient operation. Due to increased system tightness in accordance with EN 1127-1, no ATEX zone is required around the component.
